Painting Prep: Get Your Home Ready for Painting Contractors

Painting Prep: Get Your Home Ready for Painting Contractors

Published Date: July 31st, 2014 | Category: Painting Tips

The hard part is done: you have hired a painting company like DuraPro Painting to come and paint your home. As residential painting contractors serving the Twin Cities, we have painted the interiors and exteriors of many homes throughout this area. Here are a few of our favorite tips for prepping a room for painting. (But never fear! When you hire us as your residential painting contractors, you won’t have to lift a finger. We do all of the work from preparing your home for painting to cleaning up after the paint has dried!)

The first thing our residential painting contractors will do to prep the room is to move all of your knickknacks and smaller pieces of furniture out of the room. We will ask you to put them somewhere safe where they will not get damaged. Then we will move the bigger pieces of furniture to the middle of the room and cover them with a large piece of cloth or plastic. This will help ensure no flecks or spots of paint mar your furniture as we are painting.

After that, we will take the time to lay drop cloths on the floor to protect your carpeting or flooring. We will be sure to cover the entire floor near where we will be painting. From there, we will start the painting job. We will go over the walls and make sure there are no holes or other blemishes. If there are, we will take the time to spackle and cover up any holes as needed. We will also be sure to tape the edges of the wall on the top and bottom to make the sure the painting job is as neat as possible.
